More Bakery

 100_1426

I just had to try this simple layout using the Birthday Bakery set.  Again, I used scraps of Basic Black (panel layer) and Marina Mist.  I embossed the top portion of the Whisper White card base by running it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions folder.  Then, I used the stamp from the Distressing Essentials kit and rubbed it over the embossed dots using Marina Mist classic ink.  The panel of yummies were stamped in Jet Black StazOn and colored using various Stampin’ Up! markers.  This time, I use Crystal Effects on the frostings in the image.

I’m glad you stopped in.  Have you had your fill of cake yet?  I promise, this will be it for awhile…maybe. ;)

Bakery Goodies

100_1432

I loved how quickly the card in my last post came together using this hostess set!  I had to play some more and add some embellishments to the project.  I had SO much fun!  This is what I came up with…

100_1448

100_1430     I started by creating the panel of yummy cakes.  On this panel, I stamped the image from Birthday Bakery in Jet Black StazOn and colored it in using various Stampin’ Up! markers.  I, then, layered it onto Melon Mambo card stock.  I applied Crystal Effects to the cake pedestals (just for added interest).  100_1438The sentiment is found in Occasional Quotes (again, a hostess set).  The Basic Black strip is a scrap.  I love it when I can use up scraps!  The flower buttons are from the new Designer Brights Button Collection.  I tied a snip of Linen Thread in the centers.  Aren’t they gorgeous?

100_1444     The beautiful little gift bag is Stampin’ Up!’s new Mini Lunch Sack which will be available September 1st in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  It’s perfect for holding baked goods, candies, or just about any small item you can fit into it.  The great thing about these sacks are that they are of a good thick quality and come already scalloped!  I LOVE these little sacks!  I simply used a couple more images from the Birthday Bakery set to “dress up” the sack.  The tag coordinates with the smaller Tag punch.  The layers are Certainly Celery and Melon Mambo.  Isn’t it darling?  Who wouldn’t want to receive this on their birthday?  I know I’m going to enjoy giving it and making more to give!

Thanks for looking today.  I hope you’ve been inspired.  Once again, I feel like making a cake….hmmm!

Birthday Bakery

I really should make some time to stamp out a bunch of birthday cards.  I seem to wait for the last minute and realize that I’m in need of one.  However, that really wasn’t the case today.  I knew I needed the card (of course I needed it today!) but the mojo just wouldn’t make an appearance.  Well, literally, I was down to the last ten minutes.  I did it!  This was the cutie card I came up with…

100_1420

No frills, no embellishments…just quick, easy and done!  Of course, this card leaves a lot of room for creativity and, if I had more time, I may have added more.  Perhaps I’ll stamp out a bunch and build onto it.  Anyway, this features the Birthday Bakery cakes (yummy!).  I stamped it in Jet Black StazOn and colored it in with various Stampin’ Up! markers.  It is layered onto Melon Mambo and then the panel is adhered on Dimensionals to the Whisper White card base.  I love Dimensionals!  The sentiment is from Occasional Quotes.  Both sets are current Hostess sets.  Schedule your workshop today and I’ll help you to get these sets for FREE!!

I’m glad you stopped in today!  I hope you’ve been inspired!  I think I’m going to go bake me some cupcakes!  I’m hungry!

Wicked…

…Fun!  That’s what this card is full of!

100_1412

We made this for a make-n-take at our Southern Stars meeting.  It features the Wicked 100_1415Cool stamp set (note those wicked, sexy feet) and the Wicked Fun Specialty DSP.  The skirt is made using the 1-3/4” and 2-3/8” Scallop Circle punches.  The skirt is then pleated and layered and topped off with a bow of 1/8” Basic Black Taffeta ribbon.  Such an easy and fun card to make!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you found a little bit of wicked inspiration :)

Scrapbook page - Elements of Style

I know I’ve been MIA for a few days.  I’ve been spending some much needed time with the family.  Friday, was our ‘Fun In The Sun’ party.  We all had a wonderful time.  The food and fellowship was simply great.  Such fun to get together during the week simply to get together :)  Then, Sunday, we all went fishing.  I love to see my boys catching fish!  Finally, Tuesday, I was able to attend my upline’s monthly meeting.  I don’t get the chance to go often with sports and family obligations.  It is about a 45 minute drive (providing the Bridge/Tunnel traffic isn’t backed up).  It was so nice to get to go.  Our swap this month was a 6 x 6 scrap page.  My page was the month of May.  This is was I came up with…

100_1396

I used the beautiful Elements of Style set.  This is such an elegant set that screams “vintage”.  Love the look.  The Crumb Cake base was distressed using the new Distressing Essentials and the Tea Stain Vintage Ink.  I simply inked up the rubber and rubbed it onto the card stock.  The flourish is stamped in Crumb Cake classic ink.  The panel on the right took the longest to do (I had twelve of these to do).  I stamped the floral image in Jet Black StazOn first.  Then I run it through the Big Shot using the Perfect Details Texturz plate.  I, again, distressed the raised embossing with the Tea Stain ink.  Finally, I colored the image with Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron marker and used my Blender Pen dipped in Concord Crush ink for a watercolored look.  Using the White Gel Pen, I gave the flower centers a little highlighting.  A strip of Concord Crush was punched with the Scallop Trim Border and adhered to the edge of the panel.  I applied SNAIL to the top, bottom and outside edge only.  Thus creating a pocket to hold the journaling tag.  I stamped one side with the mother sentiment from the Well Scripted set and left the back side blank for additional journaling.  My note:  I think that all pages need space for journaling.  Without it, the future generations aren’t going to know what, who, why, where or when about the photo on the page.  Originally, I colored and cut out twelve of the hummingbirds from the Elements of Style set only to decide that I didn’t like the element on 100_1395the page.  The little bird just got lost on the page.  So, I shifted gears and added the butterflies die cuts from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.  I added the Jewel – Basic Pearls for added interest.  I’m loving the Victoria a5/8” Crochet Trim!  It’s so vintage looking and fun!  Another note:  This seems like a very lengthy post.  There were just several steps to this page but none was difficult to do.  Like I said, the most time consuming thing was coloring the panel image in with the blender pen and classic ink pad.  This is one time that I actually wish I had the re-inker.  I think the process would have gone quicker.

On a more solemn note, my dad was sent back to the hospital last week.  He was running an extremely high fever.  They ruled out that it had anything to do with his recent open heart surgery but they have not found the reason behind it all.  They finally sent him home Wednesday with antibiotics for the next ten days.  Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

Thanks for visiting today.  I hope you’ve been inspired.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.  I love reading your comments.

Misted Sympathy

100_1367

I was again in need of a sympathy card.  This has been a very difficult summer for my family.  This makes the 5th passing since the end of May.  Anyway, I had just received the Just Believe set and it seemed a good time to ink it up.  I markered the florals in Garden Green, Pretty In Pink and Rich Razzleberry.  Tip:  Remember to apply the lighter colors first, that way you won’t muddy up your light colored marker with a darker color ink.  I misted the stamp with a water mister and then stamped the image onto Whisper White card stock.  The misting gives the image a nice, subtle watercolored look.  I tore the edge to a desirable look and layered it onto the torn Certainly Celery and Rich Razzleberry card stock.  A length of retired 1/2” Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon (dots down) was adhered around the bottom along with one of the new Rich Razzleberry - Brights Designer Buttons with a linen thread center.  Then all was adhered onto a Crumb Cake card base.  The sentiment is from the Thoughts & Prayers set.

That’s it for today.  I’ll be MIA for a few days.  I must prepare for our Fun In The Sun party coming this Friday.  I have several flower beds that are in need of weeding :)  I’m sure lots of flowers will be reveled giving me lots of inspiration for future cards and projects.  Thanks for stopping in today.

Crumpled Flower

100_1303

This card needs no explanation.  Let me just say that I needed a Thank You card and these elements were at hand on my desk.  The card base is the In-Color Pear Pizzazz (although this photo doesn’t 100_1314do the color justice).  The flower is the new Cherry Cobbler (love it!) punched with the new 2-3/8” Scallop Circle punch.  I cut each ‘petal’ into the center, crumpled it and carefully un-crumpled it.  The center is a new Daffodil Delight - Brights Designer Button with linen thread in its center.  The beautiful ribbon is the Victoria 5/8” Crochet Trim.  Isn’t is lovely?  The sentiment from the Watercolor Trio set is stamped in Cherry Cobbler Classic ink.

Talk about easy-peasy…this card is just that!  Thanks for stopping in.  I hope your day will be easy-peasy too! :)

Sunny Leftovers

I was again able to use some more bits and pieces.  These pieces were leftover from the Fun In The Sun invites that I first showed you in this post.

100_1316

This first card is exactly the invite.  I only changed the sentiment and flipped the card on the horizontal.  The sentiment is from the retired favorite, Fancy Flexible Phrases.

The next is a Marina Mist base with a strip of Whisper White and Daffodil Delight punched with the Scallop Trim Edge.  The sentiment is from the Because I Care set.

100_1322

Clean and simple and uses up some leftovers.  Gotta love it!  Thanks for looking.  Have a sunny day…full of inspiration!

Just Believe in Scraps & Scallops

Golly, this week has been a whirl wind!  I missed my Wednesday post…so here it is on Thursday (smile).  Honestly, where does the day go?  Jess has soccer camp this week and I’ve been watching one of Adam’s friends while his mom is out-of-town and dad’s at work.  I just haven’t had the energy to do anything.  It’s all I can do to muster the energy to make the evening dinner.  Lo and behold, I have managed to put a couple of cards together.  I’ll be honest though, I’ve been utilizing some of the bits and pieces that I’ve had laying about on my desk.  My head just can’t think about designing anything new at the moment.  It was a challenge just to come up with this…

 100_1327

I had the Scallop Circle card in retired Kiwi Kiss already die cut using the Big Shot, the retired Bella Rose DSP was already adhered with the thin strip of Whisper White.  I tried this and that (I’m loving the clear stamps because you can lay on the image and get a feel for how it will look).  I finally came to my newest, never-been-used set, Just Believe.  Perfect!  The frame 100_1331was colored with Soft Suede and Pear Pizzazz markers.  I was just too lazy to pull out the Kiwi Kiss pad and fuss with it.  I stamped on the leafy image in VersaMark and adhered the retired Soft Suede Polka Dot ribbon, dot side down.  The sentiment was punched using the Word Window and layered onto a Soft Suede Small Oval punch out.  This took me awhile to come to this but I like how it turned out.  I like the fact that I’m continuing to use the things I have in my Bits And Pieces box (smile).  Thanks Sue!

Some days, inspiration comes easier than others.  Other days, it’s right in front of you and you don’t even see it.  I hope you can find your inspiration today.

Sunny Invites

100_1259     The boys and I decided that we wanted to do something different this summer.  We are going to host a “Fun In The Sun” party!  So, I set to and made these sunny, cute and simple cards for our invites.

This first card used up the remainder of the Daffodil Delight card stock that I had pre-cut for my Open House make-n-take.  You can see that in this post.   The second, I cut the base card (Daffodil Delight) differently so that I could use the cut edge in my layered squares.  Thus making the placement of the squares a little different on the card.  They both look nice though.  The Whisper White square was stamped using the 100_1248adorable, smiling sun found in the Every Little Bit set and then punched with the 1-3/8 square.  The Daffodil Delight layer is 1-1/2” square and the Marina Mist is 1-5/8” square.  The Whisper White edge was run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Details Texturz Plate – Flourish side.  A length of the new 1/8” Marina Mist Taffeta ribbon is wrapped around the card.  It helps the visual flow of the card where the different colors and textures meet.  The sentiment is in the long retired (but still a favorite) Fancy Flexible Phrases

This party is as much for us moms as it is for the kids.  It’s a Pot Luck Lunch with water games.  Something different and inexpensive to do with the kids during summer break!  The boys and I are really looking forward to it.  I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Thanks for stopping in.  I hope you’ve been inspired to do something different today.  Whether it is a new technique or something off-the-wall with your kids…enjoy yourself!!

Hugs,

~Leslee~
